Since 1996 Crux Books Inc. has offered a friendly atmosphere to purchase both new and used Theological books. Starting from a storage closet in the late nineties, Crux moved into its first manageable space in 1999. After 3 years in this ample, but small room in the basement of Wycliffe College Pat Paas, the proprietor decided that a new location would have to be found. This search ended when the libraries of Wycliffe and Trinity College were combined leaving a vacancy in the space previously occupied by the Wycliffe College library. After a few months of cleaning, re-carpeting, painting

and the application of new shelving the new space was ready to be opened in the summer of

2002. Crux Books began to thrive in this new location, quickly building a larger and more diverse customer base. This new location also was the first home to the new beverage cafe offering gourmet coffees and teas as well as fresh hot chocolate. For the next two years the expansion continued, seeing Crux moving into the niche market of high-quality fly-fishing book selling. It was the fall of 2003 that saw what was potentially the most significant change in recent store history: the integration of a real-time, fully automated computer inventory and sales system. This new system, Bookmanager, made it possible for Crux to finally have a searchable inventory that is automatically updated as sales happen and new orders are received. This system also allows the employees to offer much more accurate estimates on special book order arrival time and price. The current location of crux is in the heart of the University of Toronto campus, directly adjacent to the Queens Park Circle, one block south of Bloor St. Those who make the trip to the store will be pleasantly surprised by the comfortable atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and absolutely unbeatable prices on all theological, philosophical, classic literature and fly-fishing books.
